Hammers to monitor Calum Angus
Following a trial period with the London club, West Ham United have decided not to make an offer for GAIS centre-back Calum Angus.
The 25-year-old stopper signed for GAIS back in 2009 and made 23 Allsvenskan appearances in 2011, scoring twice, as the Gothenburg based club finished the season in a respectable fifth place. After training with The Hammers, boss Sam Allardyce has decided against a deal at this time.
“West Ham said some good things about me,” Angus told Blågul Fotboll, “and they will keep tabs on me over the next year”.
The ex-Portsmouth junior, who has played outside of England since moving to college in America in 2004, told Blågul back in April that he would “love to play back in England at one time” in his career and is contracted to GAIS until the end of the 2013 campaign.
Yet with Championship giants West Ham continuing to monitor his progress, other English clubs are sure to be looking closely when GAIS kick-off in 2012.
